Brass Monkey Run 8-10 June 2012

Postby Fraser Cars » Mon May 28, 2012 12:51 pm

Hello,

One of the Fraser Car Club reps, Tom, has organised a fun trip away 8-10 June 2012. As always, the more the merrier!

Details here http://blog.fraser.co.nz/fraser_blogged ... -2012.html

If you are keen to be a Fraser Car Club member, it's only $25 a year. Of course it is open to all types of cars and people. They are a really active group and put out a monthly newsletter. It's also a great way to keep up with goings on around the country.

Well we all made to the Chateau for the night last night, great run over the Gentle Annie yesterday then a few showers thru Ohakune on to the Chateau.

Today we separate with the others and head down the Para paras and back home, but not until we take the cars to the top of the Bruce for a photo shoot.

It was great to see Lindsay meet us for Brekie in Napier, all in all a great weekend so far and no one has used their hoods.

I'll get some photos up when we are at home.

Was great to again be involved with the Fraser Cars group (thanks Tom for organising). Was the first time I've been in a queue of these cars so was fun to watch the attitude of the cars on the move on open road and also public reaction to them.
Was very tempting to keep going to mountain with them but when hit the 100km mark up the Gentle Annie was nearing my point of no return from a petrol perspective (and no change of undies or a toothbrush for an overnighter!) and as I had, alas, obligations at home had to turn around! Car went well as well which can be a worry for me with having an older car / engine!
One near death experience on way home when came over a blind rise at about 110kph to find a Falcon on my side of the road passing cars that were stopped ON THE ROAD (not pulled over to left) while opening a gate! A lock up with about 50mtrs of black marks & smoke then brakes off & evasive action with left wheels in to the gravel when realised I wasn't likely to clear the Falcon....went back & kinda got angry at the stopped cars!
