datsun 1200 Brake Master Cylinder

Postby JohnL » Tue May 09, 2017 1:46 pm

Hi guys I have just fitted a Centric (130.42001) Brake Master Cylinder master cylinder (DATSUN 12OY) and bleed these things 6 times now. IF i panic stop I can hit the fire wall with the back of the pedal and it does not lock up on seal. The frasers are using this master, does anyone have a picture of the brake pedal or know how much pedal travel they have?

cheers

fixed, added 10mm to the push rod, which added 60mm to the pedal position

Sounds like you have 2 separate issues:

1st: You don't have enough pedal travel, like John mentioned you need to set up the system and push rod length so you get full travel of the master cylinder before the pedal hits the wall. Also need to ensure the master cylinder full returns home so the reservoir port is not blocked.

2nd: You need to bleed the master cylinder before bleeding the rest of the brakes. Once all the air is out then you can work out if anything else is wrong.
