Re: Wanganui, Mcsorely 442E / MX5

During the weekends run with the Fraser car club, had a fuel line to the regulator come off with car grinding to a halt. Reattached it with help from a local in Pihiatua and had no further problems on the trip home. The cold mornings start to the tour showed up a need for doors , so will be on the l...

Re: Wanganui, Mcsorely 442E / MX5

Am thinking about upgrading the rear shock springs. I'm using 180 lb springs and have managed to bottom them out a few times on uneven roads at speed, so might increase to 225 lb. Will bump up the dampening first to see what effect it has.

Re: Wanganui, Mcsorely 442E / MX5

After a few runs post the covid 19 lockdown I've added some wind deflectors to the screen. $20 of 3mm polycarb and 20 minutes work hopefully will help keep me a bit warmer on the cold mornings ahead. https://i.postimg.cc/rwChyPKs/IMG-20200521-183440.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/KvTqwzbn/IMG-20200521-183...

Re: Wanganui, Mcsorely 442E / MX5

The four week lockdown has given me time to work on the rear cover. Just need the corners welding, when I can get back to work, and powder coating. Dog didn't approve of the boot space ,but it's all I could manage. Maybe I could get him a pair of goggles. Am also moving the inside rear view mirror d...

Re: Wanganui, Mcsorely 442E / MX5

Replaced the clutch master and slave cylinders and have cured the problem. Although the car is now on the road, the build goes on. I have folded up a tool box to fit over the diff. Large enough to store the jack, handle, pump and a few tools. Also have purchased a few chrome fittings for the roof fr...

Re: Wanganui, Mcsorely 442E / MX5

Having a problem with clutch today. Pedal going to the floor but resorvoir is full and no leaks. Clutch operation has always been good , so this is sudden failure. Will take out of car and check. There's a bit of talk on the net of slave cylinders failing.

Re: Wanganui, Mcsorely 442E / MX5

Dropped the wife at work in the car and couldn't get it out of reverse at first. Managed to find a gear and was enough to get the car home. All be it a scary drive through intersections. The pedal was almost going to the floor before taking up. Yet the resorvoir was still full of oil and no sign of ...

Re: Wanganui, Mcsorely 442E / MX5

After first run the leaking thermostat gasket came back to haunt me. Fitted a new one for the second drive and this time no problems. Had no co-pilot this time so was able to push it a lot harder . I'm going to get my wife to film it when I can get to Manfield. Have a look how it sits through the co...

Much thanks, just got back from a drive and still buzzing. Will head over Manawatu way next time I see something on at Manfield.

Daryl & Wenliangs scratchbuilt.

Took four years but the day finally arrived when the car is road legal. Hoping for some fine weekends to do a few runs locally before heading out on some longer trips.
