Re: Rear springs

Thanks everyone, for your time and useful answers.
It is what I thought - 120 is too soft.

I'm going to order some 175 lb springs and see how they work out.

Sounds like I might need to keep an eye out for some higher rated springs for the front, too...

Rear springs

Hi, I have Gaz coil-overs front and rear, with MX5 independent wishbone arms at the rear. I was advised to go for 120 lb 12" springs for the rear, but these have proved too soft - the arse end bottoms out on bumps, especially with two people in the car. The guy at Chamberlains (automotive spring exp...

EFI mechanic needed

Can anyone recommend a good patient mechanic who can get my car running right, and who is not put off by a slightly customized non-std engine? I have a Nissan CA18DE. When you blip the accelerator, the revs drop and it sometimes stalls. I think what is happening is as soon as the idle switch goes of...

Re: Jason's first car build - locost 7

Oct 2017, took the car to LVV certifier, Don, for certification. (salvage trailer hire tip - Challenge service station trailers were cheapest rate I could find - challenge Halswel) It didn't quite pass with flying colours, but I only have a short list of issues to resolve: - two of my directional ty...

Re: Jason's first car build - locost 7

Is about 5 and a half years since I started this project, and almost finished. I notice the photo links are all broken - photobucket now charging for link sharing. So have copied all photos to Google Drive here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B79bjk6RfrMVS2ROdkY1MExqUkU?usp=sharing Instead ...

Re: Jason's first car build - locost 7

Drivers and rear mirror fitted (not bothering with a passenger mirror, which isn't mandatory). Folded up another bonnet, this time curved at the front and flat at the scuttle end, to clear the motor which sticks up at the front. Is a bit 'different' looking - kinda vintage looking - but does the job...

Diff mount fixed. Should be a lot more sturdy now.

Re: Jason's first car build - locost 7

Spent a few months in 2016 rebuilding the diff mounting. After doing some road-testing in my street one day, I notice a thumping, shudder, coming from the drive train, and when I pulled up there was fuel pouring out from the back of the car. The diff had twisted up off it's mount, the driveshaft had...

Re: Jason's first car build - locost 7

Built a new house in 2015, and have been busy doing landscaping, so the car has been parked in the garage most of the year, not getting too much attention. I did make a bit of progress at the start of the year, getting a windscreen built, including mini wipers and washer. Also tidied up the dash wir...
