Re: G'day, and Elite reversing g/box

Not sure about the elite gearbox but it looks similar to the MNR and/or quaife units. Seen mixed results on the web with this style of gearbox - some say they are noisy and that they throw oil, others are happy with them - a lot of people use an electric reverse using a starter motor on a gear that'...

Re: another not a seven but ...

According to a Constructors Car Club profile sheet on Kevin Hunt's car - 600Kg
Roughly the same as a Fraser Clubman but with much better weight distribution and aerodynamics

Re: another not a seven but ...

This model started life as a Beattie, the design was sold to redline performance cars (RPC) and they are now made in the UK.
I've seen several Beatties and Redlines - they are very nice cars

Re: Flowmaster Hushpower 2

I tried one when I first got my bike powered 7 on the road. I originally had a coby muffler - not quiet enough - over 111db at 5000rpm. test had to be at 5800! put on a flow master hushpower - knocked sound down to 104db where I needed to get to 98db (94 + 4 for exhaust being within 1.5 metres) even...

Re: Weber 45 air filter replacement

Have a look at Uni Filters
http://www.uniflow.com.au/contents/en-us/d136.html
I had some sock filters and then went to a Uni filter - much better
Some of the models have a blank base plate that you can cut to suit

Re: David's Blackbird 7

By best, I mean best for a bike engined car. A bike engine is quite different to a car engine - although the engine (in my case) revs to almost 11,000 it's not the same as a car engine revving to 11,000 In my case 6th gear is 1.028:1 ( where as cars 5th gear is usually overdriven 4th being 1:1) plus...

Re: David's Blackbird 7

If you're running an escort axle the best ratio you can get is the 3.54 - again quite hard to get and usually quite pricey.
As I was getting the sierra axles shortend the engineer suggest I should use the Toyota RAV 4 diff as they are 2.91 and easier to get

Thanks for the heads-up bzrse7en

Re: David's Blackbird 7

I was driving through Wellington yesterday - plus up the Kapiti coast and back home over Paekakariki Hill (silly low speed limit!) Since that last post I have changed the tyres - now have 185 60 13 on front (were 185 75 13) and 205 60 13 rear (215 60 13) Yokohama A048's so gearing has got slightly l...
