The annual Twin Rivers Classic Car Parade is definitely going ahead and takes place this Sunday (13 March). The traditional route has been altered to avoid the earthquake damaged roads in the Avonside area. This Rotary Club charity event (supporting the Child Cancer Foundation) is the feel-good event of the year, usually with lots of spectators picnicking at vantage points around the route, waving at the classic cars and getting their arms twisted for donations.
If you’d like to participate, here are the things you need to know:
•Assemble at A&P Showgrounds (Curletts Road) from 10:30am. Entry fee $15 per car.
•Parade starts at 1:30pm, winds its way around Westlake, Westmoreland, Cashmere, Huntsbury, Hillsborough, Dyers Rd, Breezes, New Brighton Rd and finishing up around Richmond (you will be given a map but usually it’s just follow-the-leader).
