Hawkswood sealed sprint 9Nov19

Post by 7ish » Sun Sep 15, 2019 5:21 pm

Saturday 9th of Nov

The Event:
Hawkswood Road, approximately 20km north of Cheviot. Allow two hours from Christchurch. This event first ran in 2005 for the Country Gentlemens Historic Racing & Sportscar Club as a one day event. 2006 saw the event run over two days and was opened to Motorsport New Zealand competitors for the first time.
This is your only chance to race on State Highway One in Canterbury.

Saturday
The Saturday event is open to all Motorsport New Zealand competitors.

Have a look on youtube for past event video, especially one that Neil did from last year. Not to be missed. ( I am missing it, car not ready).

I've just entered - so pending dry weather, I'll be there. It's definitely the least intimidating non track speed event you will find.

Here's my video from last year.... Link in case the embed doesn't work - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5exMuWTYaQ )

Sadly I am working on the Saturday, would have liked to come up and watch.

This would be an excellent road trip for a bunch of sevens.. about 2 hours north of Chch, ~17km past Cheviot. Nice cafe at Cheviot for coffee and lunch.

Go out for a drive and support Neil.

Thanks! The road was a lot dirtier (loose gravel) than last year and times were a bit slower for most people (I was about 1.5-2 seconds slower than last year)... Here's a video of the quickest run for me this year and it was still chock full of mistakes due to changing road conditions.
