Ah an update....

Well for the first time in 3 years and 10k later some maintenance has to be done, I have had to remove the diff as I noticed a whining coming from on it when I let up of the accelerator, a quick diagnostic by a mechanic mate of had it being a noisy pinion bearing. As summer can be a bit too hot for weekend drives its the best time to get this done so I removed it this week, this is the first time the diff has been out of the car since my ownership and the only part that has not been fully serviced since my ownership.

The local drive-line shop now has the diff, its getting all bearings and all seals fully replaced and I collect it back on the Friday and will put it back together through the weeknights next week, also whilst it up on axle stands all oils have been replaced and all joints greased so she is ready for the next 10k and the cooler Autum/Winter/Spring driving months.

She hasn't looked apart like this in over 5 years :)

Back on the road again within the week just as the weather has cooled down a bit too, having a great time taking the long way to work each day especially now 98 octane is $1.10 a liter at my local Caltex.

Cheers Stephen

Small update on the Birkin 7, started driving to work last week as it was a bit cooler in the morning, first day and one of the staff moved the work 4WD and cut the car park corner and hit my car (been parking in the same spot for 7 years), damage was cracked fender, cracked fender stay, scratch and chipped wheel, Oh well, Shannons insurance will sort it out. Trouble is no one local has dealt with a vehicle like this and the guard stay was going to be the issue in getting a new one or it repaired, getting new guards was a frustrating experience with no one getting back to me with prices after talking to 2 manufactures on the phone and then emailing them for written quotes for the instance claim, in the end I found a fibreglass place that can repair the cracked guard.

I found a good local panel shop that have done some custom cars so I think it may be ok now, he cant match the paint though so every blue part needs repainting and also he cant match the wheel colour so they are going to get re powder coated so they match, they need a repaint so now its being done at the insurance company cost. Im also thinking of changing the colour :), ill re-post a pic when its done.

She is still drivable with only 1 guard :)

Sorry to hear that Steve, although lucky he only caught the guard and didn't wreck the suspension by the looks of it. Sounds like there is a dearth of 7 friendly workshops in Queensland?

There doesn't seem to be any body around on my side of Brisbane that can deal with Seven related issues when it comes to chassis and stuff, im sure I could use a racing car manufacture to fab stuff up, there are a couple in Brisbane but all are 1 hr away

Im still getting the control arms cracked tested though as you never know.

Cheers Stephen

Finally managed to get my Tapatalk account back online, as some of you may have see Grace has had a new paint job after an insurance claim in the right guard and right front wheel, color is Mazda Crystal Sol Red, also the front wheel was painted to match the other 3 this made the other 3 look very dirty :(

Anyway some pics and some more news in the next post.

Well were up on stands again, the first drive after i picked Grace up 2 weeks ago about 200 kms in to the trip and the front guard broke where they repaired it, we were doing 100kph and had nowhere to stop, the guard swung around dragged on the road and then bounced against the tire, all these parts are the once that had been repaired and freshly painted.

So back to the repairers and insurance again, the repair place was really sorry about the mishap and have paid for all the repairs again, this time though i made them pay for a new guard stay for the RH side, also as the wheel that was painted was damaged again I also got them to pay for all 4 wheels to be painted as compensation for what happened.

I now have Grace back together AGAIN, im just waiting for the wheels to arrive and also to shod them with new rubber as the Toyo T1Rs were 9 years old, she also has a new battery and also new black trumpet socks
