Sump finish

Post by Fooesboy » Wed Oct 31, 2012 8:34 pm

I have purchased a winged sump from Fraser Cars and they have supplied it in a gold galvanized finish. It does look good, but I know it will dull over time.
The guys who are building the engine for me think that I should leave it how it is, I think i would prefer it painted.
They say it would only stone chip badly and not look good very quickly. My old sump was painted and I dont think that it looked too bad....
I also intend to fit a bash guard under the engine bay so that should help right????

Is there any reason not to paint it?

How often do people admire your sump? I'd leave it gold.

I'd leave it gold also....but then again it aint my car. I did paint ours (which wasn't galv'd), and it does have a few scrathes and dings in it now.

We also have the Fraser supplied skid plate.....These do take the knocks for the team, and soon I'll be throwing ours away and getting a new one....

Even with all of this we do have a couple of decent sized dents in the sump.....rocks and the like seem to pop up from no where!!!!
